What Browser Buttons Are
Browser Buttons are small browser extensions designed to:
- Detect new logins and offer to save them
- Autofill usernames, passwords, and form data
- Provide quick access to stored items from within the browser
- Connect securely with the Password Boss Desktop App (where installed)
They operate per‑browser and per‑profile, allowing you to enable the Browser Button on as many browsers as you use.
Platform-Specific Installation Steps
Click your browser below.
WebApp
The Password Boss WebApp runs inside your browser and does not install extensions itself. If the WebApp recommends installing a Browser Button, it links you to your browser’s official extension store.
Once you have logged in, you will be prompted to install the extension. This extension is essential for Password Boss to automatically fill in your login and personal information on website forms.
You can easily install the browser plugin for Chrome, Firefox or Edge by clicking on Menu > Get Apps.

Use the Chrome extension for all Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome, Brave, and Vivaldi for example
Chrome
WebApp users can click on Menu → Get Apps → Chrome; then enable the extension.
FireFox
WebApp users can click on Menu → Get Apps → Firefox; then enable the extension.
Brave
WebApp users can click on Menu → Get Apps → Chrome; then enable the extension.
Vivaldi
WebApp users can click on Menu → Get Apps → Chrome; then enable the extension.
Edge
WebApp users can click on Menu → Get Apps → Edge; then enable the extension.
Safari
Safari is currently not supported with the WebApp version of Password Boss with an Extension - updates are coming soon.
Advanced Use Cases
Using Browser Buttons with Multiple Browsers
Each browser manages its own extension installation. You can install Browser Buttons in:

Installing for Multiple Profiles
Chrome and Edge support multiple browser profiles.
You must install the Browser Button per profile.

If you have both Work and Personal Chrome profiles, each profile needs its own installation to function correctly.
Deploying Extensions in Managed Environments
Organizations can deploy Browser Buttons automatically using:
- Microsoft Intune
- Group Policy (GPO)
- Edge/Chrome enterprise extension settings
This ensures consistent deployment across employee devices.
Best Practices
- Always install Browser Buttons from official extension stores to ensure authenticity.
- Keep your browser updated for maximum compatibility and security.
- Use browser pinning to keep the Password Boss icon visible for quick access.
- If using multiple browsers, install the Browser Button in all of them for consistent behavior.
