Policies
Policies in the DNS filtering system control and manage an organization's internet access. They help in:
- Blocking Unwanted Content: Policies can block categories of websites, such as social media, adult content, or malware sites, to ensure a safe browsing environment.
- Assigning Policies to Locations and Devices: Policies can be applied to specific IP addresses or roaming devices, ensuring consistent filtering across different environments.
- Managing Exceptions: Domain overrides allow administrators to make exceptions for specific websites, ensuring necessary sites are accessible despite general policy settings.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Policies help track and report internet usage, providing insights into blocked sites and helping refine the filtering criteria.
Policies are essential for maintaining internet security, productivity, and compliance within an organization.
Default Policies and Priority Details
Default Policies:
- The system includes default policies that administrators can use or customize. These default policies typically cover common categories such as malware, adult content, and social media. They provide a baseline level of protection and can be used as-is or modified to suit specific organizational needs.
Priority:
- Policy priority refers to the order in which policies are applied. Higher-priority policies take precedence over lower-priority ones. This means if a high-priority policy blocks a website, it will remain blocked even if a lower-priority policy allows it. Administrators can set the priority to ensure critical policies are enforced first.
By understanding and utilizing default policies and setting appropriate priorities, administrators can effectively manage and enforce internet access controls within their organization.

Navigate to Policies Section: Go to the 'Policies' (1) section in the admin portal, and click 'Create Policy' (2).
