Domain Overrides
Domain overrides allow specific domains to bypass the general policy applied to all customers. This is useful for scenarios where specific customers need access to particular websites without affecting others. For example, if a customer requires access to one specific website that should not be available to everyone else, a domain override can be used to permit access to that service without modifying the overall policy.
Domain Overrides Configuration
You can create Domain Overrides at the Company, Location, or Roaming Device level. Allowing you to be as granular with the override as needed. You can add three different types of overrides:
-
Allow
- Useful when you need to allow a specific domain that a policy or category would usually block. This will enable you to create an exception to a blocked domain at the appropriate level (company, location, or user device)
-
Proxy
- Applicable when you want to allow a specific risky domain that would usually be blocked by policy or category, but this would allow you to view the domain through a filtered proxy view with a reduced risk.
- Redirect IP
Domain overrides are particularly useful for office services that require allowing access to specific internal domains without affecting the overall policy applied to all customers. For example, you have a customer who has a local SharePoint server at their location, you need the IP address for that site, and you add a Redirect IP Domain override, for example: SharePoint.local
to 192.168.99.100
Configuration Steps
- From a Company, Location, or Roaming Device Screen, click on Config Domain Overrides from the actions column.
-
Specify Domain: Enter the domain you want to override and choose the desired resolution type (e.g., allow, proxy, or redirect IP).
- Allow and proxy only require a domain name.
- Redirect IP: You will need the IP address to which the domain should be redirected.
-
Save Configuration: Save the configuration to apply the domain override.
