When using the hotkey of Ctrl+Alt+A, the QR code pops up on the local machine instead of the remote machine being controlled via ConnectWise Control.
There are several ways to successfully launch Technician Mode on a remote machine when using ConnectWise Control (aka ScreenConnect) when you have AutoElevate installed on your machine.
ConnectWise Control Toolbox
Using a simple batch file, you can initiate Technician mode on the remote computer using the ConnectWise Control toolbox.
@echo start cd "C:\Program Files (X86)\AutoElevate" START /B AETechnicianModeLauncher.exe Exit
Save the attached text file into your ConnectWise Control toolbox folder. Then when connected via ConnectWise Control you can initiate technician mode by running the .bat file from your ConnectWise Control Toolbox, which will work as long as the target machine has an AutoElevate Agent installed and running.
It’s a simple .bat file that changes to the C:\Program Files (X86)\AutoElevate directory and runs the AETechnicianModeLauncher.exe program.
All of these methods would do the same thing as being able to run the hotkey combination of Ctrl+Alt+A
- Manually navigate to the C:\Program Files (X86)\AutoElevate directory on the target machine and manually run the AETechnicianModeLauncher.exe program
- Use host screen controls to run C:\Program Files (X86)\AutoElevate\AETechnicianModeLauncher.exe
- If the target machine doesn’t have an AutoElevate rule, attempt to elevate a command prompt and click on the technician mode link in the lower right-hand corner of the dialog that appears.
